Golden West!
Richie (Shot and Disc), Keith (Pole Vault), and Kevin (2 mile) competed at Golden West Meet!
Richie placed 6th and 7th in the throws and launched a new PR in the disc to 154' 3"!
Kevin ran a 9:59 for 10th in blistering heat and Keith had another no height to add some fuel to his fire for next year!

CCS Finals!
Richie Casas and Jason Thompson placed at CCS Finals earning 3 medals total! NMC was the only Monterey County school with 3 medalists!
Richie led the way with two fourth place finishes in both the shot and the disc. He missed going to the state meet by 1/2 inch in the shot and by one foot in the disc. The good part? He's only a junior and will roar back his senior year!
Jason also showed well placing 6th and he's also a junior!
The team placed 21st in CCS out of a couple hundred schools in the section!
Congrats Condors!

CCS Trials!!
The Condors shined all day!!
The team was led by Richie Casas as he launched the shot put 53' 10" for a NEW SCHOOL RECORD and the top throw of the meet. He also barely scratched a 57' throw! Watch out at CCS Finals! He added icing on the cake on his last discus throw throwing it exactly 100 feet further than the shot for another SCHOOL RECORD at 153' 10"!! What a day for Richie!
Jason Thompson had his best vault ever at 13' 6" to move on to finals also!!
Kevin Roa ran the 2 mile of his life at 9:37 for a 15 second PR and is #1 alternate for CCS Finals.
Zack Wilhelm ran a nice 300 hurdles and is #2 alternate for finals.
The rest of the team had a great day with several achieving life-time bests.
Way to go Condors and good luck at CCS Finals this Friday at Gilroy!

Herald Article on CCS Trials!

MBL CHAMPIONS!!!!
Varsity Boys take home 24th title!
Frosh/Soph Boys take home 22nd title!
Frosh/Soph Girls take home 10th title!
Varsity Girls had 13th title in hand and lost it in a DQ for a lane violation in the 4x400 after winning the race!
"The THRILL of VICTORY, the AGONY of DEFEAT"
That's how this year's MBL meet will be remembered.
The varsity boys, frosh/soph boys, and frosh/soph girls shined all day and took top honors although some of the top athletes suffered some major set-backs and some saw their season end. The varsity girls will give us stories to tell for a life-time after putting it all on the line, doing what it took to get the title, winning the last event to seal the title, and then finding out they had lost the title to a lane violation.
Life and sports are a mirror image and all Condors will soar once again!
Congrats to all those moving on to CCS!!!

Monterey Herald Sports Blog!

Congratulations to our current and former Condor track athletes for a great weekend!
The weekend highlight actually came from a former Condor Danny Tapia who was competing in his first ever marathon at Big Sur and won the race! He's the first Monterey County resident to ever win the Big Sur marathon. He is now being offered a pro contract by Adidas and is training for the 2012 Olympic Trials in the marathon.
Our current track athletes also had a great weekend. On Friday our best athletes had a chance to compete against the very best of the CCS at Los Gatos. The team had a great night placing 5th among the very best teams in CCS. Richie Casas, Keith Rayburn, and Zack Wilhelm led the way placing 2nd in their events.
Saturday the varsity boys led the way winning the Alisal Invitational.
Once again Richie Casas stole the show throwing the discus 151 feet good for 2nd all-time at NMC and Keith Rayburn improved his pole vault to 15 feet 2 inches and he's now only 4 inches from the school record.
Congrats Condors and good luck this Thursday as you try to complete an undefeated MBL season at your final dual at Seaside and this Saturday at the Madera Invite.

Updated school records with Keith (Pole Vault)and Richie (Shot Put and Discus) #2 ALL TIME!!!

Some big highlights for some boys at Kearney!
The team as a whole put on a show placing 4th overall and beating all the CCS schools there. The top teams at the meet were from out of our section.
Richie put on a show with his 52 footer Thursday and out to 53'  5.5" today. The crazy part is that he sectored a 55' throw on the last one. He's ready for a big one!!  Bye bye school record soon, he's only 2.5 inches from a 20 year old school record! Richie now sits at #2 in CCS in the shot... In the disc he let one loose at 148' 10" which ties him for 5th all time at NMC and he moves to #4 in the disc for CCS... I'm very happy for Richie, now he's on the school board for 2 events....
Keith backed up his big vault Thursday with a win today... The 15' 6" may go Friday with some good comp to chase at Top 8... He is #2 in CCS right now only 2 inches from the lead...
Our 4x100 threw it down today going 43.98 with a last second switch of runners and are now #5 in CCS....
Roger had a nice 12' 6" today and now we have 3 guys in the top 10 in CCS...
Zack had a nice hurdle double today after a big leg on the 4x100... His 110HH is 11th in CCS and his 300h is 9th in CCS... Aaron is 6th in CCS in the 110HH with his best so far...
Kevin had a good double for him with a 9:54 2 mile and then a 4:32 mile...
Good stuff...

Congratulations to the track teams for their huge victories last night against Watsonville and Pajaro Valley. The boys continue to roll through their competition winning their meets by huge margins. Richie Casas and Keith Rayburn provided the highlights of the year so far for the boys with Richie throwing 52 feet in the shot put and becoming the 2nd best thrower in school history and Keith soaring 15 feet in the pole vault to also become the 2nd best ever in school history!
The ladies were not to be outdone and won yet another nailbitter. With one event to go the girls had a slight lead and it came down to the last event once again, the 4x400. The team of Priscilla Mora, Olivia Vasquez, Jovita Trujillo, and Danielle Acuna came from behind to win the race in thrilling fashion with over 300 kids running back and forth on the field cheering them on. It was huge team effort with lots of girls scoring critical points.
Congrats to both teams as they now stand alone in first place undefeated in MBL.
Here is an article about the win!
Good luck to the teams this Saturday at the Bill Kearney Invitational at Hartnell!
GO CONDORS!

The team had a great day at Avis Kelley in Gilroy!
The Varsity Boys and the F/S Girls shined placing 2nd at the meet! That's great considering some big point getters not going during Spring break and some unfortunate results at the meet... The boys were only 6.5 points out of first and the girls were only 5 pts out!
The Frosh Soph boys did well in 8th and the varsity girls did not score, with most of our top girls going down to FS, bodes well for the future!

Good times had by all at Stanford, including some ex-Condors!
Friday Keith and Richie mixed it up nicely among the elite placing in the top 10 with Keith at 14' 0" and taking a nice crack at 14' 6" and Richie inching his way to the school record board at 49' 6.5"...
The distance medley placed 18th out of 40 very elite teams and ran well with Miguel running a 3:18 (1200), Zack a :53 (400), Alex a 2:06 (800), and Kevin a 4:36 (mile).
Saturday the same four ran the 4x800 and placed 5th in our heat at 8:20 with Miguel (2:04), Kevin (2:04), Alex (2:04) and Zack (2:07) on his first ever 800!!! It was a fun race to watch with our team in the top 3 most of the race and getting some major props by the announcer.
Coach Ibarra's son Owen got into the mix in the middle school 100 meter and although the 8th graders towered over him by a foot, he had fun running trials and then making finals and running against some amazing kids (the top kids broke :12 FAT 100!!) in front of a huge crowd! It was his 12th birthday and he got spikes so he was on cloud 9 all day long.
Ex-Condor Nate Huerta blistered the 3k steeple in just over 9:00 and Danny Tapia ran a great 14:20 5k just up the road from Stanford...
Good times...

Congratulations to the Condor Track teams for sweeping all four divisions at Monte Vista Christian yesterday. The wins keep all four Condor teams undefeated in league. The freshmen and sophomore boys and girls and the varsity boys won easily while the varsity girls are making a very exciting season once again winning a dual meet in the last event, the 4x400 relay!
Congrats to everyone for a great team effort!

Congrats Condors on the North Salinas meet! The Varsity Boys BLEW AWAY the competition winning the meet by 63 points and doubling second place Salinas' points!!! The Frosh Soph boys had a great day in 4th and the Varsity Girls (9th) and the Frosh/Soph Girls (10th) made the top 10!
Results!

Congrats to the team for kicking off the MBL season in grand style!
We went to the home of the 2-time defending Varsity MBL Champs (Monterey) and handed them their first loss!
Our varsity girls made it a thrilling night as it came down to the 4x400 relay to win the meet and the team of Ida Suarez, Nadine Huerta, Linda Delgado, and Danillle Acuna blew away Monterey to seal the victory by one point 68-67!
The Varsity Boys put on a show sweeping the pole vault, the 100, the high hurdles, and the shot put for a convincing 89-47 win!
The Frosh Soph girls made it exciting and came up with a 57-57 tie!
The Frosh/Soph boys turned it up with sweeps in the long jump, shot put, and discus for their 70-47 win!
